Shohei Ohtani: Ohtani's Epic Collapse: 5 ER in 2 Games

The Dodgers are weighing whether to sit their star player in Game 3, as he struggles with lingering injuries and a slump at the plate.

I've been following Shohei Ohtani's journey this postseason, and it's hard not to feel for him. The Dodgers' superstar is struggling mightily, and it's starting to show in his stats. He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Game 2 against the Milwaukee Brewers, putting the Dodgers in a 2-0 hole in the best-of-seven series.

“I know we're better with him in the lineup. Everyone knows that. That's not a secret.” — Roberts, per ESPN

The Conversation That Could Change Everything

I've been thinking about what's next for Shohei Ohtani, and it seems like Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is on the same wavelength. He told The Athletic that he'd have a conversation with Ohtani during Tuesday's workout in L.A. to "try to figure out what's best for him". I'm guessing this isn't just about his stats – it's about his well-being and the team's chances of making a deep run.

The Weight of Expectations

I've been trying to put myself in Ohtani's shoes – or rather, his cleats. He's a two-way player who's expected to dominate on both the mound and at the plate. But what happens when the pressure gets too much? When you're not performing up to expectations, it can be tough to keep your head above water. I've seen it happen to other players before – they start to doubt themselves, and their game suffers as a result.

Ohtani's been open about his struggles with English, which has made things even tougher for him in the States. He's had to learn a new language, adapt to a new culture, and perform at an elite level all while being scrutinized by fans and media alike. It's a lot to handle, and I'm not surprised he's struggling.

The Impact on the Team

I've been thinking about how this conversation will affect the team. If Ohtani is struggling, it's not just him who's suffering – his teammates are too. They're counting on him to bring that magic to the field, and when he's not performing, it can be tough for them to pick up the slack.

Roberts has been known for making tough decisions, but this one might be a little different. He's got to balance Ohtani's needs with the team's goals – it's a delicate dance, and I'm curious to see how he navigates it.

I've talked to some of the Dodgers' fans, and they're all rooting for Ohtani. They know what he brings to the table, and they want him to succeed. But at the same time, they're also worried about the team's chances – if Ohtani is struggling, it can be tough for them to make a deep run.

It'll be interesting to see how this conversation plays out. Will Roberts give Ohtani some space to recharge? Maybe he needs a break from the spotlight for a bit – something that'll help him refocus and come back stronger than ever.

I'm curious to see how this conversation with Roberts goes down. Will they discuss a potential change in role or position? Maybe Ohtani needs a break from the spotlight for a bit – something that'll help him recharge and refocus. Whatever it is, I hope it's something that works for both Ohtani and the Dodgers.
