Background on the Wild Card Series

The Wild Card Series is a relatively new addition to the MLB playoffs, introduced in 2012 as a way to add more teams to the postseason. The series features the top two teams from each division, as well as the next two best teams in the league, regardless of division. This format has led to some exciting matchups and upsets over the years, and we're expecting more of the same this year.

Each team will play a best-of-three series, with the winners advancing to the next round. The series will be played in a home-and-away format, with each team hosting one game and traveling for the other two. This format allows for a more even playing field, as each team will have the opportunity to play at home and on the road.
